Finding the right travel bag shouldn't require hours of spreadsheet wrangling. That's why I built Qaya-a simple tool for searching and comparing travel gear using curated datasets.

What is Qaya?

Qaya takes structured data (like the popular r/onebag spreadsheet) and makes it searchable and filterable. Instead of scrolling through hundreds of rows, you can:

  • Filter by what matters – Set your size limits, weight preferences, and must-have features
  • Compare side-by-side – Select up to 4 items and see how they stack up
  • Save favorites – Bookmark bags for later (stored in your browser)
  • Share results – Filter URLs are shareable, so you can send your shortlist to a friend

The Onebag Dataset

Our first dataset includes 380+ travel bags with detailed specifications:

  • Dimensions, weight, and volume
  • Airline compliance ratings (how many airlines accept it as carry-on)
  • Features like water bottle pockets, laptop compartments, hip belts
  • Materials and construction details
  • Reddit mention counts from r/onebag discussions

Every bag is checked against carry-on limits for over 100 airlines, so you can quickly find bags that fit your usual routes.

Privacy First

Qaya runs entirely in your browser. Your favorites, preferences, and filter settings are stored locally-nothing is sent to any server. The data is fetched once and cached for fast subsequent loads.

What's Next

We're working on additional datasets for airlines, tents, and ultralight backpacking gear. If you have suggestions or find errors in the data, get in touch.

Happy travels!
