This release focuses on making Qaya faster, clearer, and more accessible, for both users and search engines.

Better SEO and Sharing

Weโ€™ve added:

  • Comprehensive meta descriptions for every page type
  • Canonical URLs to prevent duplicate content issues
  • Full Open Graph support for social sharing
  • A complete sitemap covering collections, datasets, detail pages, compare pages, and blog posts
  • Local bundling of Pico CSS for improved performance

Search engines now better understand every page on the site.

Cleaner, Faster CSS

Behind the scenes, the CSS was reorganized:

  • Split into modular source files (core, finder, detail, compare, pages)
  • Built into per-page bundles for smaller CSS downloads
  • Removed duplicate patterns and consolidated shared utilities
  • Improved consistency across layouts

No visual redesign just cleaner architecture and better performance.

Improved Mobile Experience

  • Added a Filter button directly in the filter summary for easier mobile access
  • Fixed layout issues in the homepage โ€œHow It Worksโ€ section
  • Reduced spacing inconsistencies on small screens

Filtering on mobile is now smoother and more intuitive.

Accessibility Improvements

Weโ€™ve improved support for keyboard navigation and screen readers:

  • Added accessible labels to icon-only buttons
  • Improved link consistency across pages
  • Added :focus-visible styling for keyboard users
  • Applied accent-color for consistent form theming
  • Ensured decorative icons are hidden from assistive technologies

Qaya now scores higher on accessibility audits and is easier to use for everyone.

This update is all about refinement, improving clarity, performance, and usability without changing the core experience.

More improvements coming soon.
